The 10 Worst Killer Foods in the World
We consumers place our faith in food advertising and labeling to help us make decisions about food being healthy or unhealthy for us. However, there are currently many misleading practices that lead us in the wrong direction. For instance, if you see a package of breakfast cereal with “FAT FREE” printed across the front wouldn’t you think that this would be a healthy food? Read the list of ingredients and you will find that while it is true that the cereal is fat free, it is loaded with sugar and artificial chemicals. The ten worst killer foods all share one thing in common; they are sneaky and well camouflaged.
What follows is this authors countdown of the 10 worst offenders; some you may expect to see but most likely #1 will completely shock you.
Ok first …
#10:
Salt: High intake of sodium chloride (table salt) causes the body to retain fluid, is toxic to the human body, causes arteries to become stiff and thick leading to an increased risk for cardiac failure and stroke. Sodium chloride pulls calcium from bone to be excreted in urine causing osteoporosis and extremely fragile bones. It also speeds kidney function deterioration.
#9:
Margarine: loaded with trans fats created during hydrogenation process. Toxic metals such as nickel, cobalt, platinum and palladium are used during the hydrogenation process. Trans fats in margarine have been linked to increased triglyceride levels, increased LDL cholesterol and increased Lp(a) lipoprotein all of which leads to an elevated risk for coronary heart disease.
#8:
Fried seafood (non-fish): high levels of toxic mercury; may contain resistant viruses and parasites. Lobster, clams, oysters and fried shrimp all contain high levels of trans fats and the carcinogen acrylamide.
#7:
Full fat cheese and butter: commonly contain as much as 10x the saturated fat of fish and white meat chicken or turkey. High cancer rates are consistently linked to foods with high levels of trans fat and saturated fat.
#6:
Movie popcorn w/butter: Yummy but terrible for your health. A large tub of buttered movie popcorn contains around 1,600 calories and 4 days worth of saturated fat. If you dump on the salt you’re making it even more deadly.
#5:
Hot dogs/processed lunch meats: Processed lunch meats, hot dogs and sausages contain sodium nitrite, a dangerous carcinogen.
#4:
Canned soup: Packaged and canned soups are full of artificial preservatives such as MSG, sodium and high trans fat levels. 1 cup canned soup = 1,000 mg salt, RDA = 2,400 for whole day.
#3:
Fries and chips: Both foods contain a carcinogenic neurotoxin called acrylamide, a chemical that forms when high temperatures are used to fry or bake foods. Fast food fries were tested by CSPI (Center for Science in the Public Interest, a US based consumer group) and found to have levels of acrylamide in excess of 300 times the amount considered acceptable by the EPA in a glass of water. Sobering, but not done yet! Chips and fries are very high in trans fat; this type of fat clogs arteries, is related to increased bad cholesterol and elevated risk of cancer, stroke, heart disease and diabetes.
#2:
Dunkin’ Donut and Krispy Kreme lovers look out! Donuts are made of everything unhealthy; white flour, trans fats, sugar and artificial flavorings. Donuts have no nutritional value whatsoever and are full of free radicals. One obesity expert sums up the value of donuts with “the only good thing about donuts is the hole”.
#1:
Coming in at the #1 worst food in the world we have SODA POP! Every can of soda pop you drink is like eating 10 teaspoons of sugar; it has at least 150 calories, 30-55 mg caffeine, the colors are artificial and sodas contain sulphites. There is absolutely nothing good in soda pop. Diet soda is even worse than non-diet soda since it contains aspartame, a known carcinogenic. Caffeine in soda pop has been linked with high blood pressure, altered blood sugar and hyperactivity. The main reason soda pop captures the #1 Worst Food position is that it is so widely popular. 56%-85% of children drink at least one can of soda a day and a full 1/5 of all adolescent males consume at least 4 cans of soda per day. Soda pop is so unhealthy it should carry a warning label to warn consumers of the health risk for obesity, diabetes, cancer and tooth decay to name but a few potential conditions that soda consumption can cause. No wonder soda pop machines are being removed from school grounds.
Conclusion:
These ten food sources are so bad for humans that they should be avoided. Not only are they lacking in nutrition but they are full of toxins that have the potential to shorten our lives significantly. Is that donut or plate of fries really worth and early death?
